What they say about duckrabbit:

'One of the hazards of publishing a well-known photojournalism blog - getting multimedia like yours, where the photos are both powerful and moving, and I end up in tears at my desk.'

Alan Taylor, Boston Big Picture)

'David White's multimedia work with duckrabbit is very exciting.'

Kate Edwards (Guardian Magazine Picture Editor)

'I am a fan of duckrabbit. I am not a fan because I agree with everything Ben has to say, but because he says it without frills and then will spend the time necessary to engage the consequent discussions. Such commitment is a priceless commodity.'

Prison Photography

'I met one of them at an academic conference in the summer. He was the sanest person there, but sure enough by damn gadnabbit ruffled more than a few fluffed up peacock feathers.'

The Photography Pages

'If you haven't seen the duckrabbit blog on multimedia you should.'

Stephen Alvarez

'duckrabbit has done another jaw-dropping job with Condition Critical, a highly commendable and important project for Medecins Sans Frontiers.'

Islamic Relief photo comp...deadline?

Here’s a good looking competition…from the Islamic Relief site:

Islamic Relief is celebrating 25 years as one of the UKs leading charities. The charity has been at the forefront of a worldwide charity disaster response, co-ordinated via 27 field offices across the world.

As a celebration of our commitment to humanity we are undertaking a worldwide photo competition. Islamic Relief hopes by organising such an event and endorsing the work not only with its own name but that of 4 prestigious judges from the field of photography it will be able to take part in organising a platform for the world’s talented photographers to show their work.

There will be 4 themes to choose from, allowing photographers to show their creativity in which ever field of photography they prefer. Through their photographs we hope to have a selection of images that will show aspects of the human condition, culture and traditions, landscapes and climate.
There will be numerous prizes to choose from for the accomplished photographer as well as a selection of prizes for a mini world competition for kids to show their skill.

========================================================================================

All good…only thing is, I have no idea when the deadline is, and nor does anyone at Islamic Relief it seems…I have asked for the answer, but it’s not forthcoming……all a bit odd. I imagine at least that they are still open for entries….

If anyone knows when the deadline is please holler.

UPDATE

October the 15th apparently…maybe, probably. Plenty of time to enter.

  • Hi,
Thanks for your interest in the competition and I’m glad you picked up on this. The page www.ir-anniversary.com/competition.php is still under construction with a few vital aspects of the page omitted for no apparently good reason do!:) We are looking at October the 15th for all entries to be submitted so I think this will give everyone enough time to get their photos taken. Keep an eye on the page for any new updates. You can also follow us on twitter @irphotography or twitter about the competition with #ircomp. We also hve a page on Facebook. Hope this is enough to go on – if you have any queries please email us at photoqueries@irworldwide.org . We will keep your details on record if you allow us to do so and will periodically send you emails for any changes, so keep an eye out for those.
Hope to see your photos soon.
