What they say about duckrabbit:

'One of the hazards of publishing a well-known photojournalism blog - getting multimedia like yours, where the photos are both powerful and moving, and I end up in tears at my desk.'

Alan Taylor, Boston Big Picture)

'David White's multimedia work with duckrabbit is very exciting.'

Kate Edwards (Guardian Magazine Picture Editor)

'I am a fan of duckrabbit. I am not a fan because I agree with everything Ben has to say, but because he says it without frills and then will spend the time necessary to engage the consequent discussions. Such commitment is a priceless commodity.'

Prison Photography

'I met one of them at an academic conference in the summer. He was the sanest person there, but sure enough by damn gadnabbit ruffled more than a few fluffed up peacock feathers.'

The Photography Pages

'If you haven't seen the duckrabbit blog on multimedia you should.'

Stephen Alvarez

'duckrabbit has done another jaw-dropping job with Condition Critical, a highly commendable and important project for Medecins Sans Frontiers.'

The Travel Photographer

What kind of world are we living in?

Those that passed by should be rounded up stuck in a boat and told to row for Africa.

Bastards.

I read this with sadness. Just last year, an Eritrean friend of mine lost his entire family – wife and three kids in a similar incident. They were coming to join him after four years of being apart. The Eritrean government would not allow them to leave the country legally so they had to find other ways. They weren’t even going to a European country.

Human beings are by nature survivors. They do what they must to keep their kin alive… that includes giving up their lives. They don’t come to Europe because it’s fashionable, they do so because it promises to sustain their dependents. What many in Europe forget is that as much as Europe is what it is because of good governance, Africa is what it is mainly because of exploitation from the West, North. And I’m not just talking about colonialism. Yet, today a ship docks on the shores of any African country… the reception alone is worth writing home about (unless you went by Somalia).

It is inhuman to watch someone dying and not try to save them whatever the reason. It is very inhuman.
