I dig FOTO8’s latest audio slidshow -Ben Graville peeps into the windows of prison vans
Written by duckrabbitI think it’s an interesting piece of social commentary but what do you make of the music?
love the idea but when i watched it this morning i had to turn the sound down. sorry, but the music just doesn’t fit…
Mike Holley is more impressed
Hmmm, when I first watched this I had the same reaction as Ciara, that the music is completely out of place. Actually I nearly stopped watching because of the music. However if you listen to the lyrics (and read about the band) then I can see why Ben chose this track.
The slideshow is quite fast paced (65 images in 4 minutes)so it needs a soundtrack with a tempo to match. On my first viewing though I was concentrating on following the slideshow rather than listening to the music as well. However I did hear enough though to pick up the prison theme so I played the show again but only listened to the music. Through picking up the lyrics I made the connection. I’ll also confess to watching the slideshow before reading Ben’s intro.
With this understanding of the music I watched the show again and the track certainly its into place better
