Kuwait dslr ban..

Eh?

According to this, and this, you can’t use your dslr in Kuwait any more, unless you’re an accredited journo. No one seems to know why. You can use any other sort of camera.

“The Ministry of Information, Ministry of Social Affairs and Ministry of Finance recently came to the conclusion that photography should be used for journalism purposes only. This has resulted in the ban of Digital Single Lens Reflex Cameras (DSLRs) in public, on the streets and in malls”

Those £20,000 limited edition Leica’s are a must now!!!

    • David, this surprising but not surprising. Worth checking if this is due to safety issue or cultural/religious reason. Many years ago we travelled through the desert of Saudi Arabia. Although we were covered up like other Arab women, they refused to be photographed for religious reason. Perhaps it’s a question if a DSLR camera is viewed as “haram”(forbidden), “halal”(allowed) or “makruh”(frowned upon but not deemed sinful) object. You need to have sufficient knowledge about Islamic law and culture to understand this region.
