Last NCTJ photojournalism course closes down - epic fail

According to the BJP, the last National Council for the Training of Journalists course for photojournalists has been scrapped.

That is terrible news. I was incredibly lucky to get on that course 20 odd years ago. It set me up for life, so far at least.

There will be a statement from the college later today to explain the reasons.

The loss of that course is really sad news for all aspiring press photographers and future photojournalists. I hope something can take it’s place.
I also wish Paul Delmar a happy retirement.

It’s hard to share your disappointment.

I could never understand how learning to be a Brit press photographer could possibly take up a year of anybody’s time. I mean, how hard is it to learn to use a camera? Or is that covered in the first hour, and the rest of the course covers cheesy ‘phew, what a scorcher’ captioning, a beginners guide to mockney for bonding with the pack, plus the fine arts of the doorstep and the clumsily staged set-up?
