What they say about duckrabbit:

'One of the hazards of publishing a well-known photojournalism blog - getting multimedia like yours, where the photos are both powerful and moving, and I end up in tears at my desk.'

Alan Taylor, Boston Big Picture)

'David White's multimedia work with duckrabbit is very exciting.'

Kate Edwards (Guardian Magazine Picture Editor)

'I am a fan of duckrabbit. I am not a fan because I agree with everything Ben has to say, but because he says it without frills and then will spend the time necessary to engage the consequent discussions. Such commitment is a priceless commodity.'

Prison Photography

'I met one of them at an academic conference in the summer. He was the sanest person there, but sure enough by damn gadnabbit ruffled more than a few fluffed up peacock feathers.'

The Photography Pages

'If you haven't seen the duckrabbit blog on multimedia you should.'

Stephen Alvarez

'duckrabbit has done another jaw-dropping job with Condition Critical, a highly commendable and important project for Medecins Sans Frontiers.'

The future, the purpose of my future?

Simon Sticker is ‘a freelance photographer and multimedia storyteller with a focus on world and humaitarian photography, based in Cologne, Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark.’

Ok so who isn’t a photog with a focus on ‘humanitarian’ photography these days?  I get the feeling I’d even find that in my granny’s bio somewhere … come to think of it she’s probably a ‘multimedia storyteller too!’.

Infact we get sent pretty regularly stories from/about the developing world by photogs with this stuff in their bio’s which frankly aren’t good enough.  It’s a bit like me saying I’m a darts player. Sure after a few pints in the pub I’ve been known to play a game of strip darts with the local firecrew but just cause I hit the board one in three throws doesn’t make me a professional darts player.

But back to Simon.  He gets it.  He’s not just another bloke with a camera in the hand who’s done a few trips, bought a cheap website template and is calling himself a humanitarian multimedia shooter.  He’s learning his craft and I am excited about what he’s going to get up to in the next few years.

Its painful to watch, and yeah some of the audio is a bit dodgy, but its raw and its real, its honest and its true.  It’s the sound of a journalist whose heart is reaching out and who wants to do the right thing. Respect.
