I have to admit when MSF launched its Condition Critical website, a multimedia insight into life in Congo, it felt like it could be a real turning point in the way that NGO’s expressed their work. Unfortunately the opening fanfare was followed by silence, and I suspect a lot of people lost interest.
Not anymore.
The latest film to come out is damn near perfect, one of the best short films about Africa you’re ever likely to see (there’s not much competition).
There’s
no killing,
no crying,
no starving,
no corruption,
no rape,
no crappy voice-over.
no begging bowl.
There’s dancing and painting and singing, and hope for a better life.
All told through the voices of a couple of young artists who despite their experiences believe in change.
Watch this and then tell duckrabbit what excuse you have to be cynical?
