Have you heard the light? (part 2)

Freelance journalist Ciara Leeming has. She’s signed up to duckrabbit’s multimedia training at the Trinity Centre in Bristol next month.

Ciara is a freelance journalist working out of Manchester with a reputation for hard hitting journalism.  You might wonder why a print journalist wants to go on a multimedia journalism course?  The clue is in the word ‘journalism’.

You can JUST take photos, or JUST write words but the market for your work is going to get smaller and smaller.  Those looking to make their mark, reach an audience and earn a living are going to have to broaden their repertoire.  But don’t take duckrabbit’s word for it, just read David’s post SURVIVAL from a couple of days back.

Here’s a fact. Papers and magazines are dieing. Video is currently KING on the Internet.  Photojournalists who can only offer at best a slideshow are going to find it much harder to get gigs than those can create a piece of compelling multimedia.  Pretty soon and pretty suddenly they’re going to look like has beens.  HARSH I know.  But it’s the truth. So whether you are just starting out or whether you are gods gift to photography do yourself a favor and let duckrabbit show you how to give your work new life.

(This slideshow is a small selection of Ciara’s work.  Check out her website and excellent blog for more great stuff)
