Some chain of command

I just read that Jade Goody’s spokesperson has a spokesperson themselves and that’s who the media are now quoting as she dies.

Not Jade, not her family, not her spokesperson BUT her spokespersons spokesperson, and guess what it makes front page news

Anything to fill the space …

If I learned anything from Jade [...]

Dinosaur in a hat.

I read today that the Pope thinks condoms make the AIDS/HIV problem in Africa worse.

If I put down here what I really think about what he said I would be arrested by the Vatican secret police.

Instead I am going to post a pic of him I took recently. Actually it was a few [...]

Spam Haiku

I was going to compile a wonderous poem from the mountains of spam that we get here at duckrabbit…( mountains of spam,¬†somewhere in the EU….mmmm…bleuch…)

But the spam devoured me, so I compiled a little haiku for you from the same same mountain…enjoy, possibly.

What an education (audio slideshow)

Watch this audio slideshow (as ever beautifully presented by the New York Times)

and do the maths.

If the woman speaking  is correct

then there are more malnourished children in India

than children living in Britain.

A lot more

8x more

more infact then all the people in Britain put together,

and a few extra [...]

3 weeks, 3 thousand photos, 1 city and one cracking song

3 Weeks – 3,000 Photos (New York City) from Robbie Hubert on Vimeo.

They think you’re stupid and they don’t care

The last time the UN held a special session on drugs they did so under the banner

‘A drug free world, we can do it.’

It was in 1998.

I can’t help asking myself.¬† Are they idiots or are we idiots for letting them get away with it?

The real problem is that there is [...]

Thankyou Canon :)

This is just a quick note to say that I have had my faith in corporate behemoths (partially)

restored….I am running a photo documentary course later this month for a small group of disadvantaged teens,

homeless and NEETS (Not in Education, Employment or Training), through the Trinity centre in Bristol

and I needed some cameras, [...]

How sick are you

of hearing about the Israelis and Palestinians blowing each other to smithereens?

Fair enough,

I don’t blame you,

its a depressing cycle.

The easy response of the journalist, is just to give in to the apathy of the audience. But that’s not our job.¬† We have to find new ways of illuminating the world, of [...]

Duck! Underground!

Out of the ether comes a strange request….can I find a someone in a duck suit, looking peeved, on the underground?

Of course. Anything for the loyal duckrabbit readers. Should be easy.

Well, what do you know. Success

Parky!

The pic below was getting a lot of laughs at the AOP portfolio exhibition in London last week..

I love to make people laugh with a photo..this one shows a trio of Russian sunbathers in St.Petersburg, their backs to

the walls of the Royal mint, alongside the frozen River Neva. The bloke in the middle [...]

somebody said something nice about duckrabbit

From the ridiculous (see last post ) to the sublime

Boston.com’s ‘The Big Picture’ is a thing of wonder.¬† Alan Taylor, who edits it, has both an eye and a heart for the world.

I’ve just stumbled across a particularly powerful gallery on the website of the work of Finbarr O’Reilly.

Not too long back I raved about an audio slideshow by Finbarr about the [...]

I’m sorry but I couldn’t resist … this is the funniest thing I’ve seen

in a long time.

It just cracked me and my two boys up.

Maybe¬† I should get out more? (no don’t answer that question)

M1 ‘plane crash no.2

Further to John’s excellent pic below, here’s one I shot on the same night..it’s not of the same quality¬†as Johns’s…he’s nailed it.

I was at photojournalism college in Sheffield when I heard about the crash..4 of us jumped into my mini and howled down the motorway as fast as we could..we got to within about [...]

Too close to the sun?

A British Midland Boeing 737 which crashed on the M1 motorway at Kegworth, UK, in 1989. PIC BY JOHN ROBERTSON.

duckrabbit came across John Robertson’s excellent blog by chance a couple of weeks back.

This photo and the following blog entry stopped me dead in my tracks.  John very honestly bursting the bullshit macho [...]

Neckless

Neckless, Leicester.

I’ve just been up into the archive (read loft) to have a look for a pic which I will post in a while. When rummaging around I came across¬†a favourite pic of mine, and one I had forgotten about..and one that reinforces the old snappers rule that you should have [...]

Stupid fascists.

That is not you, dear reader. It is the subjects in this pic.

They were all at a BNP demonstration somewhere in Leicester, in the late 1980′s. I was working as a snapper for the Leicester Mercury, and had been sent to cover their meeting. That was quite a hairy job, in lots of ways. [...]

duckrabbit wins Third place POYi News Multimedia – sweet

This is for Peter. Its his voice, his story and his bravery in speaking up for the rights of those displaced by the post election violence in Kenya that made this such a powerful piece.

Anyone wanting to know just what an amazing man Peter is should read the article I wrote for the [...]

Just sorted out duckrabbit’s entry into an award and I realised

that some of our newer readers won’t have ever seen our work in Kenya. It relies heavily on the photos of Yasuyoshi Chiba and Dolphine Emali.

Yasuyoshi has gone on to hoover up a stack of award nominations and awards for these photos. He’s currently working with a Kenyan photographer (of which there are MANY [...]

duckrabbit presents ‘Five ways to kill a man’

There are many cumbersome ways to kill a man. You can make him carry a plank of wood To the top of a hill and nail him to it. To do this Properly you require a crowd of people Wearing sandals, a cock that crows, a cloak To dissect, a sponge, some vinegar and one [...]
