What they say about duckrabbit:

'One of the hazards of publishing a well-known photojournalism blog - getting multimedia like yours, where the photos are both powerful and moving, and I end up in tears at my desk.'

Alan Taylor, Boston Big Picture)

'David White's multimedia work with duckrabbit is very exciting.'

Kate Edwards (Guardian Magazine Picture Editor)

'I am a fan of duckrabbit. I am not a fan because I agree with everything Ben has to say, but because he says it without frills and then will spend the time necessary to engage the consequent discussions. Such commitment is a priceless commodity.'

Prison Photography

'I met one of them at an academic conference in the summer. He was the sanest person there, but sure enough by damn gadnabbit ruffled more than a few fluffed up peacock feathers.'

The Photography Pages

'If you haven't seen the duckrabbit blog on multimedia you should.'

Stephen Alvarez

'duckrabbit has done another jaw-dropping job with Condition Critical, a highly commendable and important project for Medecins Sans Frontiers.'

Fresh M.I.L.K competition..get in :)

Hi. I got a shock this morning when I opened my emails to find a message saying that one of my pics has made it into¬†the 150 which will make up the new “fresh M.I.L.K” book. Not bad, even though there was only 149 entries :) Actually the last one had over 40,000 entries. The competition was open to all worldwide, and it bills itself as the world’s most generous photo competition, due to the fact that the first prize is $50,000, and the overall prize ‘pot’ is $125,000. The $50,000 goes to one image out of the 150. Elliot Erwitt will choose the winning pic.Fingers crossed damn tight. cvgchghjcdbkhj. Can’t type like that.

M.I.L.K stands for ‘Moments of Intimacy,Laughter and Kinship’, and the comp called for pics of ¬†”friends, families, lovers and laughter”.¬†

This is the successful pic…it is very precious to me as it is of my wonderful son at 2 minutes old, held to the bosom of my beautiful and exhausted wife. It depicts the first time she saw him properly. It is a precious image for a lot of reasons. Primarily it is all about love. I think you can almost see it in between Louie and Jane. That’s what life is all about, surely.¬†

Here it is, I hope you enjoy it.

Dave White.

M.I.L.K finalist..baby Louie and Jane.

nice one… one thing though – i just went to their website:

    http://www.freshmilkphotos.com/

and it says the closing date is 28th feb, and that winners will be notified by by the 31st march?

    weird…

  • INTERESTING

I think they extended the deadline, possibly because they haven’t found as many outstanding images as they hoped for?

nice photos on your website by the way Ben …

you’re probably right. without wanting to begrudge your success though, it seems to me like a tremendously unethical way to run a competition…

  • Congratulations Dave-it is a lovely photo and deserves a prize.
I agree with Ben-strange way to run a competition though :-(

  • Aye, you’re all right..it’s not the best way to run a comp, but I weighed it all up, and for that pic I think it’s worth it.
I can punt it elsewhere, already have, the prize money so far is probably more than I would get for it over the next 10 years anyway,
and I may win $50000..who knows…Thanks for the congrats btw…
