duckrabbit¬† just discovered the Durham Centre for Advanced Photography Studies, attached to one of the UK’s most prestigious Universities.
Wow I thought this must be a great place and rushed to their website
which is so advanced I couldn’t find a single photograph!
Blink, Blink.
Update:
David Campbell, an academic who has produced some really interesting work (more on that later) has commented:
An amusing and seemingly paradoxical observation if you approach our web site for the first time, I guess. But you can’t read much into it…aside from the fact the shortage of funds in universities for this sort of research precludes purchasing the rights to photographs for web sites, the corporatist controllers of university web sites keep a tight hand on what can and cannot be done on them, so please don’t hold the researchers responsible for the sins of our administrators! Come along to our seminars and conferences..you’ll see plenty of images for discussion.
Of course he’s right you can read very little into the centre from the website and lets face it, its great something like this exists outside of London.
