What they say about duckrabbit: 'One of the hazards of publishing a well-known photojournalism blog - getting multimedia like yours, where the photos are both powerful and moving, and I end up in tears at my desk.'
Alan Taylor, Boston Big Picture)
'David White's multimedia work with duckrabbit is very exciting.'
Kate Edwards (Guardian Magazine Picture Editor)
'I am a fan of duckrabbit. I am not a fan because I agree with everything Ben has to say, but because he says it without frills and then will spend the time necessary to engage the consequent discussions. Such commitment is a priceless commodity.'
Prison Photography
'I met one of them at an academic conference in the summer. He was the sanest person there, but sure enough by damn gadnabbit ruffled more than a few fluffed up peacock feathers.'
The Photography Pages

Stephen Alvarez

duckrabbit thinks that The New York Times have established themselves as the most consistently interesting publisher of multimedia on the web. Their online tagline is ‘Breaking News, World News and Multimedia’. It’s clear that they aim to be a global brand, though with the way their revenue is heading the most likely brand [...]

Whoa … the public’s reaction to the BBC refusing to broadcast an appeal for Gaza has been ferocious. No-one saw that coming!
I have to say I was spitting blood myself but I do agree with the point that the most important thing the BBC can do is to report the war as accurately as [...]

duckrabbit recommends you watch Jan Socher’s audio slideshow, ‘Hunger and Rage‘ twice.
First time just take it all in.
Second time close your eyes and open your ears and let the scenes come tumbling back in whatever way they chose to move you.
I promise you, you won’t be alone.
duckrabbit’s own portfolio of audio slideshows can [...]

Time magazine has a great selection of photographs taken around the world of people watching the Obama inauguration.
The best of the bunch is taken by Yasuyoshi Chiba, whose stunning work in Kenya can be seen on duckrabbit’s portfolio page. Yasuyoshi took this picture in Kibera, one of Africa’s most notorious slums, and not a [...]

One of the great things about writing a blog is you can check out what search terms have led people to duckrabbit. More often than not google brings us people who have searched ‘audio’ or ‘multimedia’. Today however we were able to welcome someone who googled;
‘Constipation pictures’.
Probably not something to sing about (both [...]

Its hard to imagine how an interview with John Ging could be more powerful than having these still images alongside.
Be warned, this audio slideshow will make anyone with a heart angry.
‘John Ging, head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), describes the moments and aftermath of an Israeli strike on a [...]

What a difference a song can make?
I’m not sure if I love this audio slideshow more for the photos than for the sound of the crackle as the vinyl passes under the needle. As someone who was practically brought up in Robs record mart (where I first found Nick Drake at the bottem of [...]

duckrabbit’s glad to see that Obama recognizes the time to have a party is when you’ve achieved something, not when you’re starting out on a presidency.¬† That said I won’t be alone in raising a jar to the back of Bush.¬† What better then with a glass of homemade scrumpy (cider)?
Anastasia Taylor-Lind knows the way.

Time are running an interesting audio slideshow commemorating 50 years of Motown.
Actually its just the music critics top 5 Motown songs but with such great tunes you can’t really go wrong.

duckrabbit got a bit seasick watching this (all those zooms!) … but it does what it says on the tin and if your not taken by the photos close your eyes and enjoy a great tune.

The Congo as a news story has burned itself out pretty quick. Few news organizations are interested in posting someone permanently there.  Journalists fly in, smash and grab, and fly out again leaving local stringers fighting to get their stories heard.
I don’t think you can blame the news orgs for that. Even the BBC, who [...]

I haven’t felt like posting anything on duckrabbit the last couple of days. All those images of children in Gaza getting blown to smithereens has made everything else I’ve come across seem slight and insignificant.
This morning I’ve done a bit of research. As I’m sure your aware the reason Israel has unleashed its army on [...]

Proof for duckrabbit from AP that still pictures, with ambient audio, is often more powerful than a film.
Shocking.
