The Other (side of Sweden)

Acclaimed photographer Joseph Rodriguez turns his lens on a group of young Muslims growing up in the city of Malmo, Sweden.  It’s a city increasingly divided on racial, religious and cultural grounds, and one in which Joseph discovers many young Muslims feel they are treated as second class citizens.

This is the second programme in the BBC/duckrabbit collaboration series: Open Eye. The full radio documentary can be heard below:

Testimonial:

“‘All that I can say is, Finally! I am very pleased with the results that you guys came up with. I know that people will criticize and say that this situation doesn’t exist in Sweden but you really kept it real and came forward with the truth, with our truth. And this is the only truth. So thank you so much for that!” Samira Hack, who features in the documentary

People on duckrabbit

  • As trainers duckrabbit were extremely generous with sharing their hard earned tricks of the trade and very supportive and encouraging in a way that created an unintimidating environment. It felt like a luxury to have such accomplished and skilled people leading us through the process so that we could basically leap frog thanks to your experience. Your humble and open attitudes for such accomplished people is truly refreshing. Laura Ivers, Senior Communications Officer

  • The guys at duckrabbit not only helped me gain skills in audio capture, interviewing and photo-film production, but also increased my confidence in getting closer to people, and hearing their stories. I recommend this training to anybody with an interest in people, their stories, and how they are represented Phil Lang
